Mrs. Kathleen Merridew Devane, age 70 of Wallace, NC, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Haw Bluff Baptist Church in Ivanhoe, NC conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Johnson, Rev. Richard Wade and Rev. Steve Gasque. Burial will follow at Haw Bluff Cemetery. She is survived by her son Gary Devane and wife Rhonda of Wallace, NC, her daughter, Michelle Casteen of Wallace, NC, her grandson, Wesley Devane of Wallace, NC, her two granddaughters, Lauren Devane of Wallace, NC and Ellen Casteen of Wallace, NC, her brother, Fred Merridew of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England, her sister-in-law, Janet Merridew of Corfu Greece and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was born on September 5, 1944 in London, England to the late Fredirick and Naomi Farley Merridew and was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Wesley Devane and two brothers, Ronald Merridew and Collin Merridew and a sister, Maureen Merridew. Kathy loved gardening and cooking. She loved going to ballgames and especially loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. Casketbearers will be Gene Devane, Steve Devane, Andy Devane, Kevin Devane, Jonathan Devane and John Van Ouwerkerk.
