Mr. Kilby Woodrow Watkins, Sr., age 67 of Wallace, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Brice's Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ronald Ginn. A visitation will be held 9:00 - 11:00 am prior to the service at Padgett Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel. Kilby is survived by his wife for 29 years, Vanessa Watkins of Wallace, NC daughter Angela Jenelle Wood and husband Johnny of Wallace, NC Kilby Woodrow Watkins, Jr. and wife Vanessa of Wallace, NC and brother Curly Van Buren Watkins and wife Cathy of Wallace, NC surviving grandchildren Kaytlin and Spencer Wood, Brody Watkins, Anthony Lowery, unborn Watkins baby, all of Wallace, NC and father-in-law Allen Padgett and many special friends. Born March 19, 1947 in Rose Hill, NC, Mr. Watkins was the son of the late Leonard Van Buren Watkins and Edna Evelyn (Hatcher) Watkins and was preceded in death by his son, Danny Glenn Watkins and a sister, Mary Evelyn Watkins. Kilby was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church Rose Hill, NC. His hobbies where salt and fresh water fishing, hunting with the neighborhood boys, eating with family and friends, attending the grandchildren's ball games, and loving his companion canine Spot. He loved sharing the foundations of survival and helping others. He was a great roofer and knew customer satisfaction was the heart of his business, American Roofing. Roofing was his career for over 35 years. Most of all he worked hard to provide for his family and stressed that education and hard work is a must for being successful.
