Mr. Larry Nelson Wood age 75 of Wallace, NC, died Friday, April 27, 2012 in Austin, TX. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Carolyn Brown Wood of Wallace, one son, Michael S. Wood of Austin, TX, three step-sons, David Ray Worsley, Jr. of Wallace, NC, Mark C, Worsley and wife Tanis of Hendersonville, TN and Jason L. Rouse and wife Mary Laine of Dunn, NC, two sisters, Faye Roberts of Columia, SC and Nan Hall of High Point, NC, two brothers, Sammy Wood and Terry Wood, both of Willard, NC, and four grandchildren, Matthew Worsley, Jacob Worsley, Noah Worsley and Jason Rouse, Jr. and several nieces, nephews and countless friends. Born June 14, 1936 in Duplin County, NC, Mr. Wood was the son of the late Troy Waitus and Hazel Blanton Wood and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace. He served in the United States Air Force as a B52 mechanic for four years, NC National Guard, Lions Club, Masons, Shriners and the Gideons International. He loved working in the yard, traveling, nature, watching sports on tv, was an avid Cowboys and Panthers fan, loved giving back to his community, spending time with family and friends and especially loved his Lord and was an avid fisherman, and he loved spending time with the love of his life, Carolyn, at their beach home in Surf City, NC, and was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Wood. Casket bearers will be Harry Bradshaw, Jim Cavender, John Tucker, Ronnie Judge, Matthew Worsley and Jacob Worsley. Honorary bearers will be Friendship Bible Class of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 408 W.
