Obituary

Laura Alice Cavenaugh, 94, passed away on Saturday, August 25, at home and went to be with her Lord. Alice was born January 30, 1918 in Watha NC to the late Columbus Franklin Garriss and Mattie Bennett Garriss. Alice attended Burgaw High School, Holmes Bible College and attended a Stamps Baxter Music School in Raleigh where she was taught piano by Hovie Lister. She later taught music out of her home to many children and adults.

An ordained minister with the Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for 54 years, she co-pastored The Church at Pin Hook for many years. She served as a missionary in the Philippines (3 six month trips) and held services at Pender Memorial Hospital once a month for several years.
