Mr. Leadie James Jones of Willard, NC, died Friday, April 27, 2012 in Wallace, NC. He was born in Pender County on January 20, 1920, the son of the late Joel and Carrie (Cottle) Jones and was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thetus Elliott Jones, five sisters, three brothers and a daughter, Marilyn Jones Spell. A World War II Veteran, Leadie served in the Army Air Force as a Diesel Mechanic where he earned the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Powell and husband James of Wallace, NC, five grandchildren, Kris Spell of Cincinnati, OH, Nick Spell and Amy of Tiffin, OH, Alex Powell of Raleigh, NC, Lindsay Powell and Andrew of Wallace, NC and Jarrod Powell and wife Anastasyia of Navarre, FL, a son-in-law, John Spell and wife Glenna of Loveland, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 408 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
