Mrs. Lessie Catherine Merritt Wilson, age 85 of Magnolia, NC, passed away May 31, 2014 at Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center, Kenansville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Faith Independent Baptist Church in Magnolia conducted by the Reverend Ray Kennedy and the Reverend J.D. Herchenhahn. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Wayne Wilson of Wilmington, NC and Fiancée and special friend, Barbara Newman of Wilmington, NC, and William Forrest Wilson of Raleigh, NC, a granddaughter, Catherine Olivia Brown and husband Chuck of Raleigh, NC, a sister, Ethel \"Shug\" Schrader of Richmond, VA, two special nieces, Vicky Dixon of Rose Hill and Brenda Scronce of Wallace, NC and a very special adopted daughter, Beth Batchelor of Wallace, NC Born December 13, 1928 in Magnolia, NC, Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Eurie Leighton and Laura Elizabeth (Powell) Merritt and was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Kenneth Eugene \"Bill\" Wilson and two brothers and two sisters. Lessie was a founding member of the Faith Independent Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her garden, serving at her Church and especially loved cooking for her family. The family would like to express a special thanks to Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center, Kenansville, and Rosemary Rest Home, Rose Hill. Pallbearers will be: Mike Scronce, Gary Bell, Ricky Hope, Robbie Davis, Ralph Culbreth, Jr., and Craig Brock.
