Obituary

Louise Rebecca Sheffield departed her earthly life on the afternoon of July 5, 2018 while a resident of The Villages of Kinston. She was born in Duplin County on October 1, 1928 to the late George Simon and Mary Jane Jones Fussell of Duplin County. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Leland Holmes Sheffield, her four brothers, and seven of her sisters.

Mrs. Sheffield leaves behind three sons--Reverend Jerry Sheffield and wife Brenda of Magnolia, Jack Sheffield and wife Bee of Richmond, VA, David Earl Sheffield and wife Myra of Rose Hill; a sister--Helen Reed of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren--Christi Sheffield of Wallace, Jason Sheffield of Surf City, Jill Halso of Wallace, Nathan Sheffield, Roseanne Doster, and Jordan Sheffield all of Lawrenceville, GA; and ten great grandchildren.

A homemaker was the career path chosen by Mrs. Louise and she spent her life taking care of her loving husband and three sons. Having grown up in such a large family gave her a good deal of insight in her ability to take care of her family. She was truly a "southern belle" in many respects. Her excellent sewing abilities elevated her to the level of dress-maker according to family members. A great deal of time was given to the Rose Hill Baptist Church family as she was always so active in many capacities there. As a hospital volunteer in younger days, many new acquaintances were made in her life. There was always time for her two favorite pastimes--gardening and crafts.

A celebration of life honoring Mrs. Louise will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services with visitation one hour prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Jerry Sheffield. Rather than flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the ALS Association North Carolina Chapter--4 North Blount Street, Suite 200--Raleigh, North Carolina 27601. One may share memories or send condolences to the family by selecting our "Guestbook" on the Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services website.
