Malissa Gail Horne

Malissa Gail Horne of Smithfield (NC) passed from her earthly life on Saturday, October 24, 2026, while in UNC Health Johnston Hospital in Smithfield. Born on March 23, 1970, she is the daughter of the late Orville Earl and Judy Gail Crisco Horne.

Left to cherish her memory are her children—Kenneth Wayne Lanier of Sneads Ferry and Tiffany Smith of Wilmington; siblings—David Earl Horne of Harrells and Viola Renee Henderson (Larry) of Pflugerville (TX); step father—Preston Knight of Harrells; granddaughter—Rilee Smith of Wilmington; domestic partner—Javier Barrera of Smithfield; and niece and nephews.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
