Mrs. Margaret Allene Griffin Knowles, age 81 of Teachey passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Golden Care Assisted Living in Wallace. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 4:00 at Corinth Baptist Church in Rose Hill, NC conducted by Reverend Richard Phillips, Reverend Andy Beard and Reverend Matthew Burris. A burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 2:30-4:00 at the church. Mrs. Knowles is survived by three children, Larry Knowles and wife Linda of Rose Hill, NC, Jimmy Knowles and wife Karen of Teachey, NC, and Joseph Knowles and wife Alexandra of Rose Hill, NC, eight grandchildren, Sean Knowles and wife Tracy of Wallace, NC, Wendy Malone and husband Chris of Rose Hill, NC, Graham Knowles of Bolivia, NC, Rena Baker and husband Adam of Teachey, NC, Bradly Knowles and wife Brittany of Dunn, NC, Diana Jo Tift and husband Chris of Wallace, NC, Nancey Brown and husband Craig of Clarksville, TN and Trinity Hadley of Rose Hill, NC, six great grandchildren, a sister, Janice Wilson and husband Giddeon of Bladen County and several nieces and nephews. She was born April 23, 1932 in Bladen County, to the late Jessie D. and Rena Jane (Watson) Griffin. Mrs. Knowles was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Marvin Earl Knowles, two sisters, Mildred Barber and Ester Creech, and a brother, Dalton Griffin. She graduated from Clarkton High School in 1950 and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She loved working in her yard, cooking for her family, sewing, and singing in the church choir. She also directed the church choir for a period of time. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her love of flowers led her to work for many years at Stallings Florist in Wallace and later also at Willa's Florist. Pallbearers will be Bo Jones, Danny Sanderson, Warren Cavenaugh, Anthony Teachey, Clairborne Batts and Richard Williams.
