Mrs. Margaret Southerland Turner, age 93, of Teachey, NC passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Rosemary Rest Home in Rose Hill, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Rockfish Presbyterian Church in Wallace, NC conducted by Reverend Charles Love. Burial will follow at Rockfish Cemetery in Wallace, NC. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. She is survived by a son, Manley Ward Turner, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, a grandson, Stephen John Douglass of Teachey, NC, two great grandchildren, Ian Campbell Douglass and Garrett Campbell Douglass. Mrs. Turner was born on September 5, 1919 in Teachey, NC to the late Jesse and Mary Southerland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Manley Ward Turner, Sr., her daughter, Jeanette Turner Thomas and her four brothers and five sisters. Mrs.Turner graduated from Teachey High School in 1937. She worked in the lunch room at Wallace-Rose Hill High School for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, farm work, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of Rockfish Presbyterian Church.
