Mrs. Martha Martin Knowles, age 82 of Rose Hill, NC, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Wallace, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Rose Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bruce Herrmann. Burial will follow at Knowles Family Cemetery, Rose Hill. The family will receive one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hubert Thomas Knowles of Rose Hill, NC, a son, Dennis Knowles and wife Gail of Rose Hill, NC, a daughter, Jane Ritterbusch and husband Johnny of Simpsonville, SC, three grandchildren, Samantha Kennedy and husband Bradley of Chinquapin, NC, Sarah Buitrago and husband Erik of Simpsonville, SC and Natalie Ritterbusch of Simpsonville, SC, a great granddaughter, Sophia Kennedy, two brothers, Wilbert Martin and wife Janice of Mt. Olive, NC, and Billy Martin and wife Patsy of Wilkesboro, NC, three sisters, Angelita Johnson of Rose Hill, NC, Eunice Simmons of Winston Salem, NC and Della Ann Hill of Clinton, NC and several nieces and nephews. Born January 25, 1931 in Kenansville, NC, Mrs. Knowles was the daughter of the late Charlie Alex and Lessie Francis (Summerlin) Martin. Martha was a faithful member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Knowles was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved cooking and attending family reunions. She was a \"mama\" to many children helping her sister in running a daycare for many years. She loved her church and worked with the GA's for many years. She also enjoyed going to circle meetings. Casket bearers will be David Knowles, Wayne Brooks, Lacy Stanley, Dean Ray Johnson, Grey Sheffield and Bradley Frederick. Flowers are welcome but donations can be made to the General Fund at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 401 E Main St Rose Hill, NC 28458.
