Mary Graham Jones of Wallace left her earthly home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 while a resident of Day Spring of Wallace. She was born in Pender County to the late Obb Jones and Katie Rackley Jones. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Alton Tyndall Jones.

Surviving are her daughter Mary Anita Jones and her husband Lawton Lewis; sisters Katherine Biggerstaff of Rocky Mount, Wilma Foster and her husband Emmanuel of Wilmington, all of North Carolina.

Mrs. Jones began her career in office work which she did for many years. At age forty she decided it was time for a career change, so off to nursing school she went. There was in her a genuine love for nursing which she then practiced for twenty-five years. She enjoyed sewing and fishing but her greatest pride was in cooking for family and her church family. Those who know her can almost taste one of her wonderful cakes when thinking of her. For many years a great deal of her free time was spent in preparing to teach her Sunday School class and to sing in the church choir at the Wallace First Baptist Church. She was very serious about her spiritual life. In her personal life she felt free to share her views with those she encountered. This is a trait for which she was admired. The loss of her personality will leave a vacancy in the hearts of everyone who knows her.

A graveside service to commemorate her wonderful life will be held at Riverview Memorial Cemetery in Watha, N.C. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be the pastor of her church, Dr. Alan Thompson.
