Mrs. Mary Buckner Smith, age 84 of Rose Hill died Thursday, November 01, 2012 at Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Wilmington.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery conducted by Reverend Brian Doles.  Visitation will follow immediately after the service.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Janice Wheeler and husband Donald of Louisburg, NC; two sons, Larry Smith and wife Betty of Sierra Vista, AZ; Kenneth Smith and wife Elizabeth of Wilmington, NC; twelve grandchildren, Avery Guy, Joseph Guy and wife Jennifer, Michael Guy, Mattie Brown and husband Johnny, Wyatt Smith, Charles Smith, Dustin Smith, Mary Beth Leon and husband Julio, Martha Smith and husband Mike, Heather Bostain and husband Jason, Alison Lee and husband Jason,  and  Stephanie Collier and husband Josh, seven great grandchildren,  three sisters, Elizabeth Benton and husband Roy of Wallace, NC, Annette Grimmer of Wallace, NC, and Susie Gallant and husband Eddie of Greensboro, NC, two brothers, Donald Buckner and wife Ruth, Charles Buckner and wife Marcy both of Rose Hill, NC, and extra special family members, June Robinson and husband Jimmy of Rose Hill, NC, and Harold Buckner of Kenansville, NC.

Born May 24, 1928 in Duplin County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late David Wooten and Lucy Batts Buckner and was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Smith and a brother, David Buckner.

Mary was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Rose Hill and was a seamtress.
