Mrs. Maxine Louise Byrd age 93 of Wallace died Sunday October 3, 2010 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Wallace. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jean Cottle of Wallace, a granddaughter, Mrs. Billie Edwards and husband Brad of Chinquapin, a brother, John Stuart and wife Goldie of Snow Camp, a sister, Sarah Woody of Burlington, three great grandchildren, Jamie Modline of Wallace, Rev. Duane Modline and wife Julie of Warsaw and Kevin Edwards of Chinquapin. Born in Alamance County, Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late Ode Charles and Vancie Cooper Stuart. She loved playing bridge, crochet and knitting, working in the yard and loved to read and socializing with friends and was a member of First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Byrd, a grandchild, Melodye Verricchia, a son-in-law, Harold Layton Cottle and three brothers, Allen Stuart, Sam Stuart and Casper Stuart. Honorary bearers will be Betty Rouse, Lois Hall, Billie Devane, John Robinson, Dan Robinson and Kevin Edwards.
