Mrs. Melva Fussell Cavenaugh, age 74 of Magnolia, NC, died on April 8, 2016 at Kenansville Health & Rehab in Kenansville, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral Home Chapel in Wallace, NC conducted by Rev. Jimmy Johnson. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Cavenaugh Cemetery on Hwy 41 East in Wallace, NC.

She is survived by her son, Michael Glenn Cavenaugh and wife Lynn of Magnolia, NC, two brothers, Aubrey Fussell and wife Beanie of Wilmington, NC and Norwood Fussell and wife Debbie of Walstonburg, NC, a sister, Eleanor F. Woodruff of Wilmington, NC, two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Bolduc and husband Jeremy of Clyde, NC and Megan Ann Benson and husband Sean of Warsaw and five great grandchildren.

She was born on May 19, 1941 in Duplin County, NC to the late Arlie and Ruth Earline Gavin Fussell. She is also predeceased by her husband, John Stephen "William" Cavenaugh , her son, William Vance Cavenaugh and her sister, Wilma Fussell West.

She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church. She loved sitting outside talking with her neighbors, salt water fishing and gardening.
