Mrs. Mildred Evans Pigford age 95 of Rose Hill died Tuesday October 2, 2012 at Milford and Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday October 4, 2012 at Island Creek Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Ronald Ginn. Burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 pm prior to the service.

She is survived by  two sons, Gene Pigford and wife Donna of Wallace, NC Deane Pigford and wife Patricia of Willard, NC, six grandchildren, Amy Pigford Blackstock and husband Jon of Tiger, GA, Eddie Lanier and wife Michelle of Baton Rouge, LA, William Carter of Willard, NC, Roy Ritterbusch and wife Jessica of Willard, NC, Michelle Longest and husband Worth of Midlothian, VA and Heather Bridgers and husband Carl of Wilmington, NC, sixteen great grandchildren, Walt Pigford, Paul Blackstock, Marissa Blackstock, Jack Blackstock, Parker Lanier, London Lanier, Kristyn Carter, Mitchell Carter, Raven Moss, Hunter Moss, Trey Ritterbusch, Christian Ritterbusch, Lauren Ritterbusch, Garrett Longest, Liza Grace Longest and Myles Bridgers, a sister, Doris "Buck" Brown of Wallace, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Born August 25, 1917 in Duplin County, Mrs. Pigford was the daughter of the late Eddie and Nealie Evans Rivenbark and was preceded in death by her husband of 22years, Herman Hill Pigford, a great grandson, Brent Ritterbusch, a brother, Robert Evans and a sister, Ruby Bradshaw.  Mildred was a longtime member of the Island Creek Baptist Church in Rose Hill.  She loved quilting, fishing, cooking gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Roy Ritterbusch, William Carter, Eddie Lanier, Walt Pigford, Worth Longest and Carl Bridgers.  Honorary casket bearers will be Milton Bradshaw and Jason Bradshaw.
