Mrs. Myrtle Cleo New Wells age 96 of Willard died Thursday May 26, 2011 at Brian Center in Wallace. She is survived by two daughters, Nina C. Wells of Chesapeake, VA. and Charlotte Sawyer of Virginia Beach, VA., four sons, William David Wells, Jr. of San Diego, CA, Milton S. Wells of Wallace, Roy Lee Wells of Burgaw and William David Wells, III of TX, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Born October 14, 1914 in Pender County, Mrs. Wells was the daughter of the late John William and Minnie Adeline Lee New and was a member of Peniel Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for 63 years. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, singing in the choir and performing at gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William David Wells, Sr. Casketbearers will be Eric Sawyer, Tyler Brownson, Bryan Miller, Tony Batton, Logan Wells, Roy Keith Wells and Wesley Batton.
