Mrs. Nancy Clark Moore Avant left her earthly home in Wallace for her eternal home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 while a patient at Duplin Vidant Hospital in Kenansville. She was born in Duplin County to the late Walter Moore and Annie Mae Williams Moore on June 6, 1936. She is also predeceased by her husband, Rufus Edward Avant, Sr. and her daughter, Nancy Helen Avant.

Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Avant Edwards and husband Rashie of Beulaville; a son Rufus Edward "Buddy' Avant and partner Marci of Wallace; grandchildren—Lisa Stallings Gurganus of Watha, Angela Dawn Torrans of Kenansville, Melissa Torrans Gordon and husband Charles of Comfort, Ginny Avant Hope and husband Nelson of Rose Hill, Alex Avant of Wilmington and Dylan Avant of Wallace; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverview Memorial Park mausoleum. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Nancy spent many years of her earlier life in a local credit office as the manager and owner. Many friendships were kindled among the contacts she made while in this profession. At one point in her life she did a lot of crochet work as a hobby. She loved family dearly and in recent years she had three other loves: Pepsi, watching TV, and her canine "Sammy".
