Nellie Knowles Bateman, age 75, of Teachey died Tuesday March 22, 2016 at her home. A Funeral service will be held Saturday March 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Phil Eakins officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery. She is survived by her sister, Mary Roberts of Wilmington; brothers, Robert Lee Knowles and wife Phoebe of Wallace, Billy Knowles and wife Hazel of Texas, Leslie Knowles of Teachey; nephews, Gregory "Greg" A. Knowles and fiancé Rose of Wallace, Darryl Knowles and wife Karen of Oklahoma, Robert Knowles and wife Diane of Wallace, Michael Simmons and wife Kim of Texas, Chris Knowles and wife Molly of New Bern; nieces, Tricia Myers and husband Mike of Texas, Beth Roberts of Wilmington and Ivy Thornton and husband Ricky of Raleigh. A native of Duplin County, Nellie was the daughter of the late Willie Henry and Arlene Robinson Knowles. She was also preceded in death by a nephew, Leslie "Sam" Henry Knowles, II . Casket bearers will be Greg Knowles, Jimmy Johnson, Kellum Raynor, Robert Knowles, Jimmy Young, Jerome Henderson and Chris Knowles.
