Neta Marie Hearn Pistner, age 82 of Teachey, died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her home. She was born February 11, 1927, in Teachey to the late Charles and Edna McMillan Hearn. She was preceded in death by her late husband Bernard Raymond Pistner; two brothers, Walden Hearn and Craig Hearn; two sisters, Edna Cascioli and Hilda Kelly. Survivors include two sons, Bernard Richard Pistner and wife Judy of Hampton, Minnesota, Michael Hearn Pistner and wife Jo Ellen of Teachey; two daughters, Neta Marie Lee of Teachey, Joyce Ann Savage and husband Charles Savage of Rose Hill; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Madeline Jarman of Teachey, Eloise Thorp and Ruth Eakins of Watha, and Miriam Tucker of Teachey, and dear friend Fred Pollette of Charlotte. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She attended Teachey Elementary and Clement High School in Wallace. She married her husband Bernard Pistner March 7, 1942 in Dillon SC. She worked in Arlington VA and Washington DC and lived in Erie PA for 10 years, prior to moving to Teachey. She worked for 35 years as an office manager in the poultry and hog industries. Having retired, she served 8 years as Mayor of Teachey. She also served on the Parish Council Board and other committees at Transfiguration Catholic Church. Her passion was her family, her church, the town of Teachey that she grew up in, growing orchids, and gardening. Visitation will be at Padgett Funeral Home, Wallace, on Wednesday, 7:00-8:30PM and her residence in Teachey. A memorial mass will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Wallace at 11:AM on Thursday, November 19. Pall Bearers will be James Kelly, Ray Kelly, Charles Jarman, Walden Hearn, Noel Hearn and Herbie Tucker. Honorary Bearers will be Mayor Lois McCartney; Town Commissioners, Ronnie Page, Ethylen Powell, Wanda Henderson, James Moore; Town Administrator, Kay Foster and Public Works James Parker.
