Mrs. Patty Williams Smith, age 85 of Wallace, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville, NC. A private graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 at Oak Plain Cemetery in Magnolia, NC. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Wallace Presbyterian Church conducted by Dr. Philip Gladden. She is survived by her husband, Colwell Smith, Jr. of Wallace, NC, a son, Colwell Smith III and wife Kimberly of Wilmington, NC, a grandson, Evan Smith and wife Kari of Wilmington, NC, a brother, Franklin Williams and wife Pat of Wallace, NC, a sister, Evelyn Knowles and husband Floyd of Wilson, NC, three sisters-in-law, Betsy Williams of Rose Hill, NC, Martha Smith Pomozzi and husband James of Dunedin, FL, and Frances Smith of Rose Hill, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born December 14, 1928 in Duplin County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Daniel and Nellie Grey (Carr) Williams and was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Williams. Mrs. Smith graduated from Magnolia High School in 1947. She was employed at Cavenaugh's Gift Shop as a sales associate.
