Mr. Phillip Morris Gurganus, age 68 of Cypress Creek, NC, died Friday October 28, 2011 due to a Pulmonary Embolism. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday October 31, 2011 at Padgett Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Wesley Houston. Burial will follow at Gurganus Family Cemetery in Cypress Creek. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Eunice Davis Gurganus of the home, two daughters, Amie Lamb and husband Doug of Beulaville and Amanda Rogers and husband Matthew of Cypress Creek, five grandchildren, Krista Lamb, Cameron Lamb, Gracie Lamb, Elleanna Rogers and Hayes Rogers, two sisters, Mary Sue Sanderson and husband Bradley of Wallace and Brenda Powers and husband Glenn of Maple Hill, one brother, Donald Gurganus and wife Arlene of Scotts Hill and several nieces and nephews. Born August 20, 1943 in Cypress Creek, Mr. Gurganus was the son of the late Cyrus Thomas and Annie Bell James Gurganus and attended Sand Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Over the years, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and working on his farm. Once his grandchildren came along, they became his pride and joy. They made memories that will last a lifetime. Phillip was loved and will be missed by all that knew him. The family will receive friends at Padgett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday and will be at their residence in Cypress Creek other times.
