Obituary

Retha Ann Moore McCoy of Willard, NC departed her life here on earth on Monday, May 5, 2025, while at the Novant Health Pender Hospital in Burgaw, NC, with her family close at hand.  Born on January 15, 1945, she is the daughter of the late James and Callie Jane Moore.  Also preceding her in death are her husband—Bobby Ray McCoy and a sister—Shirley Jane Moore.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters—Diane Rivenbark and husband Randy of Willard, Wanda Cavenaugh and husband Gordon of Rose Hill, and Camille Miller and husband Robbie of Wilmington; grandchildren—Jonathan Rivenbark and wife Maricarman of Willard, Felisha Hatcher and husband Daniel of Chinquapin, and James Cavenaugh and wife Bailey of  Rose Hill; great grandchildren—Kailyn Hatcher, Bray Hatcher, Weylan Hatcher, Hudson Cavenaugh , Hollis Cavenaugh, Mia Rivenbark; brother—John Hunt and wife Peggy of Wallace; and her loving caregiver for the past year—Jessica Blansett.

Mrs. Retha was a quiet lady with a very sweet personality and was loved dearly by everyone who knew her.  She was one who was known to listen to the conversation more than one to lead it.  She taught her girls an excellent work ethic which has always remained paramount in each of their lives and this same ethic has been shared with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is set for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the Penderlea Assembly of God, 3880 NC Hwy 11, Willard, N.C.
