Mr. Robert Clifton Watson, Sr., age 87 of Wallace, NC, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Wallace United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Bob Kretzu. Burial will follow at Rockfish Cemetery, Wallace. Robert is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Schoenick and husband Terry of Wilmington, NC, a daughter-in-law, Donna Watson, three grandchildren, Robert \"Bobby\" Clifton Watson III and wife Tanya, Savannah Watson, and Chris Schoenick and wife Lené, two great grandchildren, Priya Schoenick and Gwen Schoenick, a brother, Ben Watson and wife Mae and a sister, Frances Cording and husband Dick. Born August 12, 1926 in Rose Hill, NC, Mr. Watson was the son of the late Ben and Frances Watson and was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Asha Farrior Watson and his son, Robert Clifton Watson, Jr., a sister, Sara Williams and a brother Ritchie Watson. Robert was a member of the Wallace United Methodist Church. Upon graduating from Wallace High School, he entered the United States Navy. After serving his county, he later worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He enjoyed his favorite hobby which was golfing at the Rockfish Country Club. Robert was a kind, patient man strong in his convictions, and devoted to his family. We will love him and carry his spirit in our hearts always.
