Roger (Perks) Vernon Tharpe

Roger “Perks” Vernon Tharpe, 82, of Kenansville, North Carolina, passed away Friday, October 23, 2026 and has been finally reunited with his wife, Brenda Brown, who predeceased him in 2009. Perks was born September 26, 1944 in Browntown, Virginia, son of the late Vernon David and Edith Virginia Rudacille Tharpe. Perks was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie, Jack and Tommy Tharpe. Perks never met a stranger and would always talk to anyone he came in contact with. He always had the time to take a niece, nephew or many of his “adopted” kids hunting, fishing or for a walk on his stilts as he was working on the many miles of sheetrock that he finished in his lifetime. His laughter, quick wittiness and jokes will be long remembered for many years to come. He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends. The graveside memorial service to celebrate his life is set for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 in Devotional Gardens, 1260 NC 24 & 50 in Warsaw, NC with Jimmy Johnson officiating. Family will greet friends following the service.
