Mrs. James of Raleigh, NC, recently a resident of Statesville Place Assisted Living, passed Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Davis Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the Burke and Lily Mae Tillman. She is predeceased by her parents, as well as her husband of 47 years, Elbert P. James, who died in 1989, and her brothers Burke and Wilibur \"Tillie\" Tillman. Mrs. James is survived by her son, Ken James (Charlotte), of Rocky Mount, and their children, Michael James (Nicole) and Julie James Mims (Mike). She is also survived by her daughter, Joanna Jams Gaither (Gary) of Statesville, and their children, Kathryn and Susanna. She was also \"Great Grandmama Ruth\" to Gracie and Colby Mims and Reese and Ramsey James. Her sister, Blanche Tillman Kinser, of Ashe County, also survives. We will remember the warm, loving home she created and filled with melodious laughter, delicious food and flowers. Her lovely voice will sing in our hearts forever.
