Mrs. Sallie Newkirk Morrison age 95 of Wallace died Thursday April 19, 2012 at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Wallace. She is survived by one son, James Morrison and wife Gloria of Wallace, NC, four grandchildren, Jeff Morrison and wife Heather of Rose Hill, NC, Kerry Morrison of Wallace, NC, Todd Morrison and wife Tonya of Willard, NC, and Tony Morrison and wife Elizabeth of Newport, NC, eight great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Gail Morrison of Willard, NC, and several nieces and nephews. Born August 15, 1916 in Sampson County, Mrs. Morrison was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ella Herring Newkirk and was a member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church. She loved gardening, cooking and taking care of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Wilton Carl Morrison, one son, Wilton Carlyle Morrison, Jr., one grandson, Jonathon Morrison, four brothers, Alexander Newkirk, Hamilton Newkirk, George Newkirk, Franklin Newkirk, one sister, Eloise Innis and one very special sister-in-law, Virginia Newkirk.
