Obituary

Rev. Samuel Wevers Swinson 82 of Pin Hook Community, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Pen-Du Rest Home. Born February 7, 1930, he is the son of the late Jobe and Sally (Gussie) Swinson and was preceded in death by a sister, Joe Annie Leary and a brother, Jonah Swinson, He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Brunnie Swinson of the home; son, Gilmer Swinson and wife Shelley of Pin Hook; daughters, Reveshia Larsen and husband Ed of Beaufort, Felecia Padgett and husband Greg of Hope Mills, Lycrecia Sutton and husband Chuck of Cape Cartaret, grandchildren; Melissa Winstead and husband Carson of Sanford, Robbie and wife Leah of Holly Springs, Chandy Swinson of Surf City, Burt Swinson and wife Morgan of Chinquapin, Brian Alphin and wife Susie of Richlands, Deneille Fox and husband David of Garner, Amber Sutton of Wilmington and Charles Sutton of Cape Cartaret; great grandchildren, Mattie Swinson and Devin Fox; brothers, Titus Swinson and wife Louise of Pin Hook, Joel Swinson and wife Irene of Monroe, George Swinson and wife Emma Lou of Pink Hill and sister, Isibell Quinn of Magnolia, Rev. Swinson served as pastor of Oak Grove PFBH Church and through the years he mentored many to play musical instruments and sing. He and his wife devoted their lives to church work and going to rest homes and singing for those shut-in. Rev. Swinson was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He touched many lives through music, but his greatest gift was love. You did not see him that he did not offer a smile, a hug and a kiss. He will be missed by all who knew him.
