Mrs. Sarah Wheeler Jones, age 79 of Rose Hill, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 22, 2013 at Island Creek Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Ronald Ginn. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rose Hill, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services, Wallace, NC. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Dallas Earl Jones, Sr., three sons, Dallas Earl Jones, Jr. of Rose Hill, NC, Steven Mark Jones of Rose Hill, NC and Brian Keith Jones and wife Christy Stokes of Rose Hill, NC, two sisters, Geraldine Harvell of Willard, NC and Inez Coombs of Kinston, NC. Born November 29, 1933 in Rose Hill, NC, Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Preston and Molly (Rivenbark) Wheeler. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Kirven and Essie Bennett and four brothers, Major Wheeler, Russell Wheeler, Leonard Wheeler and Bobby Wheeler. Mrs. Jones was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church. Prior to her membership at Island Creek Baptist Church, she was a member at Rose Hill Baptist Church serving more than 40 years as a Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed singing in the choir. Her faith was in the Lord and she read her bible everyday. Mrs. Jones graduated from Wallace High School in 1953 and later worked in the Rose Hill/Magnolia Elementary School cafeteria. She enjoyed baking cakes and pies and giving them out to her friends and relatives. She was the kind of person who said I Love You to everyone and that they were sweet. She loved to spend time with her family. Pallbearers are Brian Jones, Joe Davis, Eugene Fussell, Jimmy Casey, Kenny Batchelor and Gary Teachey. Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.
