Saraí Cruz de Dios of Willard, NC, passed from her earthly life at midday on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Born on October 7, 1967, she is the daughter of Umberto Cruz and the late Evangelina Cruz Matheu. Also preceding her in death is her sister—Carmen Dalila Cruz de Dios.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband—Alexis Rivera Castro of Willard; children—Alexis David Rivera Cruz of Wilmington, Abner Samuel Rivera Cruz of Wilmington, and Bryan Jafet Rivera Cruz of Willard; siblings—Nohemy de Dios of Madrid, Henry Cruz de Dios of Honduras, Bany Matheu of Honduras, and Carlos Cruz of Honduras; and father—Umberto Cruz of Honduras.

Saraí was employed in the dietary department of the River Landing Country Club. Her caring attitude for others is shown in the fact that she was referred to as "Mama" by her co-workers. Always a responsible person, she has the respect of many who surround her. She worshipped at the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Wallace. Her love of family was the most important of all her earthly experiences.

A service to celebrate her life is set for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Wallace officiated by the Reverend Eduardo Marrero. Family will greet friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. Floral gifts are welcome or please consider a contribution in her memory to the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
