Shelton Batts of Magnolia, NC departed his earthly life on the early morning of Tuesday, April 29, 2025, while at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born on December 15, 1944, he is the son of the late Clayton and Effie Jane Williams Batts.  He is also preceded in death by siblings—Adrian Batts, Wendell Batts, and Evangeline "Vannie" Francis.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife—Doris Batts; children—Andy Batts of Magnolia, Gary Batts (Paula) of Wallace, and Becky Batts of Topsail Island; grandchildren—Warren Batts, Ori Batts and Rose Easterling (Eston); sisters—Vernell Batts Davis, Louvenia Hollingsworth, and Brenda Hines all of Wallace; and brothers—Claiborn Batts of Wallace and Elton Batts of Georgia.

Shelton was the kind of man that didn't know a stranger. He enjoyed, in his lifetime, many career opportunities, from power line work and driving a truck, to always finding time to farm to provide for his family.  He showed his love for others by always being willing to help.  Shelton enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and most of all spending time with family and friends, laughing and having a good time.

Mr. Batts' family will greet friends at a visitation set for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 in the chapel of Padgett Funeral Home followed by a celebration of life, also in the chapel.  Interment will be in   Riverview Memorial Park following the service.  Officiating will be Rev. Phil Eakins.
