Mr. Sidney E. Smith age 83 of 203 First Street, Rose Hill, NC died Thursday, October 08, 2009 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center in Wilmington. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery at Wallace conducted by the Rev. Brian Doles. Visitation immediately following the service at the cemetery. Mr. Smith is a native of Duplin County and the son of the late Sidney D. Smith and Earlie Mae Teachey Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mary Buckner Smith; one daughter, Janice Wheeler and husband Donald of Louisburg, NC; two sons, Larry Smith and wife Betty of Sierra Vista, AZ and Kenneth Smith and wife Elizabeth of Wilmington, NC; twelve grandchildren, Avery Guy, Joseph Guy and wife Jennifer, Michael Guy, Mattie Brown and husband Johnny, Wyatt Smith, Charles Smith, Dustin Smith, Mary Beth Leon, Martha Smith and husband Julio, Heather Smith, Alison Smith, Stephanie Collier and husband Josh; three great grandchildren; one sister, Dora Ellen Strickland of Goldsboro, NC. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to be made to Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, 129 East Main Street, Rose Hill, NC 28458.
