Terry Allen "Bud" Hanchey, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was born March 30, 1946, in Duplin County, North Carolina; the son of the late Robert J. Hanchey, Sr. and Crodie Elizabeth Hanchey. Terry was preceded in death by brothers Robert J Hanchey, Jr. and Billy Hanchey. Surviving are his sisters Robbie English, Erlene Moore, and Mary Jane Sperry.

Terry grew up in the Northeast Community near Wallace, NC. He never lost the love of his childhood friends and the fun times they had along the river and the Northeast Church.

Terry graduated from East Duplin High School. He later studied mechanical drafting at St. Petersburg College, Florida. He was a US Navy Veteran including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After the Navy, Terry settled in Raleigh and was employed by Carolina Power and Light Company as an electrical systems draftsman. He ended his career as a top designer for power substations for Duke Progress Energy.

Terry loved hunting and fishing especially at his cottage in the Pamlico River near Aurora, NC. He also enjoyed sailing with his friends at Black Beards Sailing Club in New Bern. One of his favorite outdoor activities in recent years was his Outer Banks fishing trips with his surf fishing group.
