Mrs. Thelma Louise Savage Dempsy age 96 of Teachey, NC died Saturday April 23, 2011 at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw. She is survived by, one daughter, Janice Johnson; one son Jesse \"Buddy\" Dempsey and wife Blanche; five grandchildren, Amy Brooks and husband Chad, Gregory Johnson, Nikol Edwards and husband Brett, Tara Dempsey, Benjamin Dempsey and wife Ashley; four great grandchildren, Adam Brooks, William Brooks, Jade Edwards and Eva Edwards; one great grandchild Grayson Harris Dempsey who is still under the loving protection of his mother's womb; one sister, Robbie Knowles and one brother, J.C. Savage, Jr. Born April 6, 1915 in Duplin County, Mrs. Dempsey was the daughter of the late Jesse Cleveland Savage, Sr. and Fannie Register Savage. She worked at Kramers Department Store for 40 years. She loved gardening, flowers and sewing. Mrs. Dempsey was a very loving and out-going person who enjoyed writing articles for the local newspaper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Harris Hosea Dempsey; three sisters Irene Savage, Josie Mae Savage and Lois Savage; three brothers, Cleo Savage, Carl Savage and R.C. Savage; one son-in-law Eddie Johnson.
