Obituary

Mr. Thomas Jefferson Sholar, age 84, of Wallace, NC, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Duplin County on July 17, 1927, the son of the late Joseph and Ada (Henderson) Sholar and was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Elwin Sholar and James Allen Sholar. Thomas had a passion for drawing and had on many occasions, had them published in the Wallace Enterprise. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and observing the many birds outside his house. A member of the Oakdale Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Thomas loved spending his time serving the Lord at the church. Surviving beside his wife of 46 years, Loretta (Pierce) Sholar are: two daughters, Rhonda Swinson and husband Ronnie of Wallace, NC, and Lori Horrell and husband David of Wallace, NC, a brother, J.R. Cavenaugh and wife Grace of Magnolia, NC, two sisters, Margarett Cottle and husband Franklin of Wallace, NC and Mary Brown and husband Marshall of Knightdale, NC, two grandchildren, Rebekah Swinson and Matthew Swinson and several nieces and nephews. Casket Bearers are: John Pierce, Daniel Wells, James Brown, Gary Mattingly, Brett Phillips and Tyler Brown. Honorary Casket Bearers are: Brandon Pierce, Joe Jones, Joe Scronce, Randy Sholar, Stanley Cavenaugh, Irvin Graham, Deuland Sholar, Lou Fucili, Bobby Sholar, Heber Raynor and Duland Jenkins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sammy Carter and Kaye Everett, formally of the Wallace Enterprise and Dr. Michael Rallis.
