Wanda Marie Johnston Pickett of Rose Hill, NC passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 26, 2022, while at home.  Born on February 26, 1948, she is the daughter of the late Marvin and Rentha Johnston.  Also preceding her in death are her first husband—Edmund Jenkins and her second husband—Jackie Pickett; siblings--Mary Esta Peck, Lorraine Sciese, Marguerite Roman, Junior Starliper, and Lee Starliper

Left to cherish her memory are her children—Marion Jenkins and wife Sheri of Wallace and Teresa Oxendine and husband Anthony of Teachey; grandchildren—Bailey Jenkins of Wallace, Matthew Oxendine and wife Tiffany of Magnolia, and Travis Oxendine of Teachey; great grandchildren—Karlie Oxendine, Adilynn "Adi" Oxendine, and Lilly Oxendine; and special friends—J C and Shelby Lanier.

Mrs. Pickett was born in Maryland and lost her mother at a very young age.  She then moved to North Carolina where she spent much of her work career in sales in local department stores, where she made many lasting friendships.  She was a very loving lady who was quiet, reserved, gracious and loved laughter.  The church family was very important to her.  It was a delight for her to be a "helper" to others in her "daily path of life".  She also enjoyed trips with her daughter to gospel concerts.  Her biggest joy in life, though, was the time she shared with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 12 Noon on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in the Rockfish Memorial Cemetery of Wallace, NC.  Officiating will be Pastor Rodney Bonham.  Family requests that, rather than flowers, memorial contributions be considered to the building fund of her church, The Church of Pentecostal Gathering.  Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the Pickett family.
