Obituary

William Christolph Blossom III died July 2, 2011 at his home. He was born May 27,1931 in Castle Hayne, NC. to Willaim C. Blossom,Jr. and Frances Boney Blossom, both deceased. He is survived by his son, Frank Blossom and daughter, Nancy Blossom, and former wife, Carole B. Blossom. Chris is also survived by four sisters: Betty B. Sevison(Jack),Frances B. Bowen (Frank), Mary Anna B.Bessellieu, and Lynda B . Crowley (Bob)., and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his first cousin Mary Bland Lanier. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Blossom and niece, Christiann Crowley. Chris attended St. Joseph' Catholic School in St. Helena, NC. and graduated from Burgaw High School in 1948. He went to Wilmington College and then enlisted in the US Air Force from 1949 until 1954. He completed the Russsian Language course at Army Language School in Monte Ray, CA. After coming home from Korea, he taught Russian at Syracuse University. After leaving the Air Force,he attended (Old) Wake Forest and Wake Forest Law School where he made Phi Kappa and Cum Laude. He graduated with an LLB (JD) degree. Chris was awarded a Richardson Foundation Grant for a year in Washington, DC to intern with Congressman Graham Barden. He figured out he was a lawyer and not a politician. After completing the year in Washington,Chris moved to Wallace, NC where he started practicing law with Winifred TO. Wells. After Winnnie's death in 1982 he continued to practice law until his death. He was an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association for over 50 years.
