Mr.William Carl Heath age 98 of 5135 Hwy 11, Willard died Thursday November 5, 2009 at Pender Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday November 8, 2009 at Padgett Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jimmy Johnson and Rev. Tommy Blanton. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Luna Giddens Heath of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Gail H. Lanier of Hampstead and Mrs. Donna Kay H. Franzen and husband Walter of Wilmington, granddaughters, Mrs. Jenny L. Bethea and husband Michael, Mrs.Amy L. Garner and husband David and Mrs. Tammie R. Tart and husband Marcus, Jr., one sister, Mrs. Wilma H. Brown and eight great grandchildren. A native of Pender County, Mr. Heath was the son of the late William Alexander and Lessie Laura Rivenbark Heath. He was a Veteran of WWII and served honorably in the Air Force. After the war, he moved to Penderlea, N. C. and farmed until he retired. He was a member of the Penderlea Baptist Church where he served as a SS Teacher, SS Director, Deacon and Emeritus Deacon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy T. Heath, sister, Ruth Heath and a son-in-law, Ben W. Lanier. Casketbearers will be David Garner, Marcus Tart, Jr., Michael Bethea, Joe McGlohon, Lewis Webber and Bob Williamson. The family will receive at the Padgett Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday prior to the service.
