Obituary

Mr. William Josey Wells, age 87 of Teachey, NC, went to his heavenly home on September 30, 2016 at Day Spring Assisted Living in Wallace, NC. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Teachey Baptist Church in Teachey, NC conducted by Rev. Craig Richardson. A reception will follow the services in the Church fellowship hall.

William is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katie Bordeaux Wells of the home, his daughter, Rhonda Wells Lucas and husband Robert of Reidsville, NC, his son, William J. (Bill) Wells of Teachey, NC, his grandchildren, William (Clint) Wells of Teachey, NC, Taylor Wells Lucas of Danville, VA, George Kenly Wells of Burgaw, NC and Stacie Kathryn Lucas of Reidsville, VA, his brother, Jacob (Jake) Wells of Callahan, FL, his sister, Crystal Carolyn (Crick) Johnson of Rose Hill, NC, a special niece, Pam S. Rivenbark and husband Glenn of Wallace, NC and a daughter-in-law, Laurie W. Wells of Teachey, NC.

William was born on June 9, 1929 in Duplin County to the late Robert Lee "Mr. Rob" and Mary Caroline "Carrie" Wells. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert L. "Fella" Wells, Jr., Elwin "El" Wells and W. E. "Sam" Wells, his sisters, Lila Davis "Jean" Farrior, Harriet Rebecca Phillips, and Annie Frances "Wink" Jones and a grandchild, Joseph Chadwick Wells.

He was a member of Teachey Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, sang in the choir and served as Sunday school superintendent. He loved God and was a very generous person and had a special love for children and missions. He was a farmer at heart. He loved the land and always trusted God to provide for his family's needs. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Jay Farrior, Charles Wells, Tim Bowen, Johnny Hardison and Wesley Hairr.
