Mr. Worley W. Liles, age 84 of Wallace, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Brian Center Health & Rehab, Wallace. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, November 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Wallace conducted by Dr. Alan Thompson and Rev. Reid Casteen. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.
Surviving besides his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Leta (Roberts) Liles of the home is a daughter, Connie Hatcher and husband James Allen of Chinquapin, NC, a son, Robbie Liles and wife Linda of Goldsboro, NC, eight grandchildren, Missy Alcock and husband Thomas of Greenville, NC, Elizabeth Scott and husband Russell of Lumberton, NC, Mike Hatcher of Chinquapin, NC, Jon Hatcher of Chinquapin, NC, Kristyn Hatcher of Chinquapin, NC, Jennifer Liles of Goldsboro, NC, Kimberlee Liles of Goldsboro, NC, and April Liles of Goldsboro, NC, four great grandchildren, Emma Fry, Alexa Jaiden, Peyton Dean, and Tori and several nieces and nephews.
Born January 6, 1929 in Smithfield, NC, Mr. Liles was the son of the late Weldon Lewis and Eunice (Williamson) Liles and was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Liles, Mallie Liles, and Howard Liles. Mr. Liles served in the United States Army as a mail clerk. After an honorable discharge, Worley owned and operated several businesses throughout his life which includes the Downtown Motor Court, the Wallace Laundromat, and the Servewell Supermarket. Mr. Liles loved his church. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace for more than 47 years. Worley loved fishing, buying antiques and restoring them to their original look. He also loved playing cards and spending time at Hardee's in the mornings with his friends but what he loved the most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Mike Hatcher, Jon Hatcher, Russell Scott, Keith Rogers, Billy Ivey, Thomas Alcock and Zac Hatcher.
