Alice Faye Spence Wadsworth of Watha, NC passed from her earthly life on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 while in UNC Lenoir Hospital in Kinston. Born on October 31, 1946, she is the daughter of the late Theodore R. and Fannie Mae Everette Spence. She is also preceded in death by her husband—Robert Lee Wadsworth, Jr. and a sister—Hilda Mealy.
Left to cherish her memory are her children—Mary Beth Chandler and husband David of Goldsboro, Robert Lee Wadsworth III and wife Glenda of Rose Hill, and Henry Stephen Wadsworth and wife Kitty of Maple Hill; grandchildren—Tyler Chandler and wife Kelli of Goldsboro, Nicholas Chandler of LaGrange, and Dustin Wadsworth and wife Angela of Pin Hook; great grandchildren—Parker Chandler, Jacob Wadsworth, and Raymond Chestnut; siblings—Mary Batchelor of Grifton, Dorothy Dwyer Butler and husband Dave of Jefferson, GA, and Thomas Spence and wife Jane of Burnt Chimney, VA; her constant canine companion—“Zoe”; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Faye came to Duplin County from Lenoir County when she married Mr. Wadsworth and they shared fifty-three years together. Much of her work life was spent as an administrative assistant with Murphy Family Farms—a job she enjoyed tremendously and from which she retired. Cooking for her family and friends was an absolute joy for her along with waiting on her husband. She consumed herself in the old Westerns and also liked to crochet and play gin rummy. More than anything else on earth, though, she loved her family.
A service to celebrate her life is set for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 in the 401 West Main Street chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace. Officiating will be the Reverend Jimmy Johnson and Reverend Ottis King. The family will greet friends at a visitation following the service. Interment will be in the Rockfish Presbyterian Church cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 24, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Concord Baptist Church or Grainger Baptist Church in Kinston.
