Barbara Page Obituary

Barbara Jean Blanton Page of Wallace, NC passed from her earthly life on Sunday, July 12, 2020 while at Vidant Duplin Hospital.  Born November 3, 1935 in Duplin County, she was the daughter of Fannie Wadsworth Blanton and Johnnie J. Blanton.  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jimmy, twin daughters, two brothers, a sister, and two sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter—Rita English and husband Terry of Wilmington and her son—Michael Page and wife Beverly of Wallace, four grandchildren—Kayla and Eric English of Wilmington and Reagan and Anna Page of Wallace, one brother—Elbert Blanton of Raleigh, nephews—Bryan and Kevin of Raleigh, Tony of Charlotte, and niece—Carlotta of Concord, NC

Barbara was raised in Teachey, NC where she was a member of Teachey Baptist Church.  She attended school in Wallace, graduating from Wallace High School in 1954.  She attended East Carolina College and graduated in 1958 with a BS degree in education.  Barbara married Jimmy Page in December 1958.  They were married for almost 50 wonderful years.  Her children and grandchildren were her most precious gifts.

After moving near Harrells, she became a member of Siloam Baptist Church where she taught primary classes, young adult classes and senior classes for many years.  She worked with Mrs. Mildred with Cub Scouts and Girls Auxiliary.  She also served on many church committees.

She taught school for 30 years, mostly at Wallace Elementary.  She enjoyed many children and their parents.  She also served on local and county committees. 

Barbara spent many hours working in her yard with her flowers.  She liked to share them with her neighbors and friends.  She also baked cakes for her elderly friends in Harrells and Teachey.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church cemetery.  Officiating will be the Reverend Tim Register and the Reverend Charles Love.  Friends may visit the funeral home for a time of final sharing with Mrs. Page on Friday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with closed casket.  In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Page requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital—Post Office Box 50—Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or Siloam Baptist Church—Harrells, NC 28444.
