Brenda Hall Chester of Magnolia, NC departed her earthly home on the early morning of Thursday, April 15, 2021 while at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC. Born in Duplin County on August 3, 1951, she is the daughter of the late Gordon McCoy Hall and Leona (Catherine) Brock Hall. Also preceding her in death are her son—Danny Glenn Watkins; brothers—Cleon Hall and David Hall; and sister—Ann Taylor.
Left to cherish her memory are her children—Jenelle Wood and Kimberly Bryant both of Rose Hill, NC; grandchildren—Kaytlin Wood, Spencer Wood, and Jocelyn Bryant all of Rose Hill; siblings—Larry Hall of Beulaville, Tammy Strickland of Wallace, and Sherry Brock and husband Thurman Jr. of Beulaville; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
Early life was in Duplin County, where she grew up with six brothers and sisters, but her truck driving career led her all across the United States. In her travels she always enjoyed meeting new people and “never met a stranger”. She cherished the word “conversation” more than the average person does and was known for her lack of ability to understand the word “No” in her conversations. Working in her lawn—weeding and mowing—made her proud of the finished product and that was obvious. She also spent time fishing and canning tomatoes. Her three loves in life were grandchildren, trucking, and lawn work but time with grandchildren was at the top of the list in her loves, along with other family members.
A visitation is set for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace and graveside service following at 3:30 p.m. in East Duplin Memorial Gardens in Beulaville. Rather than floral arrangements, please consider a gift to the funeral home to offset costs.
