Charles Joseph "CJ" Caproni

Charles Joseph “CJ” Caproni of Wallace, NC, passed away on Friday February, 24, 2023, while in ECU Health Duplin Hospital.  Born December 23, 1939, he is the son of the late Laurence and Jewel Caproni.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife–Dorothy Johnston Caproni of Wallace; Children–Sue Ellen Cottle and husband Herbie of Rose Hill, Mary Ann Cutler and husband Michael of Pantego; grandchildren–Bradley Cottle and Kristin of Rose Hill, Ashley Quinn and Adam of Rose Hill, Riley Cutler and Abbey Cutler of Pantego; great grandchildren–Callie Cottle, Cohen Quinn, and Harris Cottle.

Mr. Caproni served in the United States Air Force for four years.  He enjoyed playing golf, cooking and spending time with friends and family.  He worked for RJ Reynolds for more than thirty years as a tobacco buyer, and he enjoyed talking about his fond memories while on the tobacco market.

A visitation is set for 2:00 on Sunday, February 26, at the family’s home in Wallace–616 Onslow Street.  A graveside service to celebrate his life is set for Monday, February 27, at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace.  The family is requesting that, rather than floral arrangements, memorial contributions be considered to the Wallace Presbyterian Church – PO Box 717, Wallace, North Carolina 28466.
