.Clayton James Bryant, Sr., 80, of Rose Hill, NC passed from his earthly life to his heavenly home during the early morning hours of Sunday, November 14, 2021 while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Born on March 2, 1941, he is the son of the late John Cleveland and Mary Tula Knowles Bryant. Also preceding him in death are a daughter—Regina Carol Bryant; siblings—Joyce Parker, JC Bryant, and his twin Carolyn Raynor.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife—Wanda Gail Cooper Bryant; children—Clayton James Bryant, Jr. and wife Sara of Rose Hill, Beverly B. Taylor and husband Robert of Faison, William Ashley Bryant and wife Sandy of San Antonio (TX), Deborah White and fiancé Ray Najera, Jr. of Bell Arthur, Robert Norman of Castle Hayne, and Jerry Norman of Walnut Cove; sister—Jewell Smith of Canton (GA); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friend and confidant—Eugene “Punk” Fussell of Rose Hill.
Mr. Bryant spent most of his work career as a computer specialist in several feed mills in the Duplin County area. Known by many, he was a very friendly and outgoing person who encouraged and helped many during his lifetime. He volunteered for more than twenty years in the Rose Hill Fire & Rescue and served as captain for several of those years. It was his pleasure to share his love for his Lord with others. He attended church in the Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where he was very active in many programs of the church. Youth programs were always paramount in his service there.
The Bryant family will greet friends at a visitation at 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in the 401 West Main Street chapel of Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services in Wallace and at other times in the home of his son, Clayton J. Bryant, Jr. in Rose Hill. A service to celebrate his life is set for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18th in the chapel of the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or one may consider a contribution in his memory to the Gideons.
