Doris Jean Jones of Magnolia, North Carolina passed from her earthly life enroute to her heavenly home on Friday, August 27, 2021 while visiting family in Zebulon, NC. Born on April 15, 1938, in Harnett County, she is the daughter of the late Johnny Robert and Mittie Belle McLaurin Stone. She is also preceded in death by her husband--Herbert H. Smith; and siblings--Johnny Robert Stone, Jr. and Frances Honeycutt.
Left to cherish her memory are her children--Teresa Morgan of Rose Hill, David Glen Jones and wife Rebecca of Pensacola (FL), Daryl Autry Jones of Burlington, and Mary Brown and husband Lee of Wallace; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and siblings--Bobby Johnson, Linda Beasley, Glenda Aiken, and Betty Shirley
Mrs. Jones was born in Harnett County and later migrated to Duplin County where she met and married Herbert H. Smith. She started a group home in Rose Hill and operated it for about twenty years. It was her purpose in life to help others while loving them at the same time. Her goal in life was to serve her Lord and she enjoyed telling others how much He loved them as well. Some referred to her as a charismatic lady who had a quick wit in answering the questions asked of her.
A graveside service to celebrate her life is set for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in the Blanton Cemetery--366 Teachey Mac Road, Magnolia, NC. Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is serving the family.
