Edith Ann Johnson Carter of Harrells, NC departed her loving family and friends early morning on November 17, 2021. Residing in Sampson County, Ann passed away in her sleep at her beloved home, personally considered her “happy place”. Ann passed at the family farm where she was born December 28, 1941 to Virginia R. Johnson and Harvey E. Johnson.
Ann loved her family by putting their needs before her own. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerry Mack Carter. Together, they raised two children, Cynthia Carter and Audy M. Carter, who is married to Charlotte. She is also survived by two brothers, Carl E. Johnson and Jerry C. Johnson.
Ann’s grandchildren are Robert M. Carter who preceded her in departure. Surviving grandchildren are Lauren A. Carter, Hannah E. Fortune, and Virginia A. Steener. Ann’s great grandchildren are Haden Fortune, Raven Fortune, Elaina Matthis, and Railey Matthis.
Wilfredo Flores and his wife, Maryana were loved as a son and daughter by Ann. Their children, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Edith were considered and loved as her own grandchildren.
There will be a graveside funeral service at Wells Chapel Baptist Church cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Officiating will be the Reverend Barry Wells.
