Elizabeth "Lizzie" Naylor

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Powell Naylor departed her earthly life on Monday, March 30, 2020 while at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  Born on June 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ellie James and Margie Matthews Powell.  She was also preceded in death by her husband--Elliott Naylor, Sr.; brothers--Graham H. Powell and James Arthur "Buddy" Powell, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children--Mary Jane Wallace of Southport, Sarah Elizabeth Benton and husband Paul of Wilmington, Janet Fay Jagunic and husband Larry of Jacksonville, FL, Jo Ann Singleton and husband David of Burgaw, Elliott Naylor, Jr. of Wilmington; brother--Johnnie Powell and wife Della of Harrells; grandchildren--David E. Naylor, Lonnie M. Britt, Damien L. Benton, Kyle Benton, Jennifer A. Singleton, Kelly Hood, Mia Freeman, Kristen Snow, and Matthew Jagunic; great grandchildren--Michael, Hailey, Josh, Austin, Kaleigh, Luke, Ben, Ollie, Trevor, Claire, Ryan, Kathlyn, Laina, Wesley; great great grandchildren-- Rachel Grace and Brentley; and many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.

Mrs. "Lizzie" was born in Bladen County, NC and this is the place she grew up while working on the farm with her family.  She was the only girl with three brothers.  Upon her marriage to Elliott Naylor, Sr, she lived in Wilmington, NC.  Most of her time was spent raising her five children but there was time to work as an inspector in clothing manufacturing.  Prior to her declining health, she worshipped at Center Baptist Church in Garland, NC.

A service to celebrate her life will be held by the graveside at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2020 in Harrells Community Cemetery in Harrells, NC.  Mrs. Lizzie requested that, rather than flowers, memorial contributions be made to Center Baptist Church--c/o Leona Blackburn--10305 Harrells Highway--Garland, North Carolina 28441.  Padgett Funeral &Cremation Services is assisting the Naylor family.
