Gene Evans Obituary

Gene Evans, Jr., 48, of Teachey, unexpectedly left us too soon on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Born on May 2, 1972. He is preceded in death by his mother, Cathy Baker Brown of Teachey, NC.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his bride of 26 years, and the love of his life, Leann Blanton Evans, and his children Joshua and Megan Evans, who were his absolute pride and joy. He is survived by his father Horace Evans and his wife Ann, his loving brother Jeff Evans, his stepfather Jimmy Brown (Pops), his step-siblings Everett Brown, his wife Michelle, Cindy Dixon and her husband Eric, and his beloved grandmother Inez Baker. Gene is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly. Gene will also be remembered by his loyal friends, Jon Gurganus and Russell Teachey. He never met a stranger and has made many other life-long friends

. Gene was a jack of all trades and an active outdoorsman. He loved fishing, boating, dancing and grilling. He and his family often took trips to the coast and spent many nights shaggin’ on the beach, listening to music, and spending quality time together. During the winter he enjoyed hunting with his brother and Pops. He always had a smile for everyone and would help anyone at any time. He had a generous soul and a very special heart. He volunteered for many years at the Teachey Fire Department since he was 15 and he was also an active member of the Wallace Moose Lodge, where he volunteered to help grill for many benefits.

Gene was running Bobby’s Alignment in Wallace, NC for quite some time and enjoyed working alongside his friend Glenn Bryant and father-in-law Bobby Blanton, until his recent passing. Gene was passionate at his job and it brought him much joy every day. He was a hard worker and took pride in Bobby’s Alignment. When the workday was done, Gene enjoyed his daily rides with his dog, Maverick, on his four-wheeler.

Gene will be endlessly missed, but treasured memories will forever go on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  The family feels they have lost a huge part of their hearts and they feel broken.  His memory will be honored at a memorial service on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Wallace.  Please remember your mask to help prevent the spread of Covid.
