Grace Casey Knowles of Wallace, NC, passed from her earthly life during the late evening of Thursday, February 10, 2022, while at home. Born on December 11, 1928, she is the daughter of the late William Benjamin and Mattie Roberts Casey. Also preceding her in death are her husband—Alvin Carr Knowles; grandson—Thomas Dewayne Francis; great granddaughter—Kayleigh L. Allen; four sisters and four brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are children—Willa Newmons and husband Jessie of Wallace, Sylvia K. Francis of Wallace, and Michael A. Knowles of Rose Hill; thirteen grandchildren; a multitude of great grandchildren; and sister—Frances Jones of Jonesboro (GA).
Mrs. Knowles moved with her family to Wallace at the age of ten and lived in the family’s first house there for many years. Most of her work career was spent in sales and printing as an employee of the Wallace Enterprise for twenty years. The family refers to her lovingly as a “card” because of her sassy nature in responding to others and it is noted that “if you don’t want to know, you had better not ask her”. An avid supporter of the Carolina Tarheels basketball team, her favorite color is Carolina Blue and she enjoyed sharing the attributes of the UNC team with anyone willing to discuss the team with her. Next to her God, she loved her family more than anything else on earth. The family is tremendously missing her already.
A service to celebrate her life is set for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022, in Corinth Baptist Church in Rose Hill, NC. Officiating will be the Reverend Phil Eakins and Pastor Kelvin Gurley. Family will greet friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace. Family is requesting that, rather than floral arrangements, contributions in her memory be presented to the Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund. Padgett Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the Knowles family.
